Pit Bull Awareness Day Revisited

The good stuff keeps pouring in from our 2010 National Pit Bull Awareness Day event! Cynthia Stein created this awesome video featuring The Parade of Pit Bulls and our special guests Shorty “Pit Boss” Rossi and Rescue Ink. Over 2,000 people and approximately 600 dogs came out for the event, making November 7th a very special day for pit bulls!

Be sure to check out the photos from our V.I.P. Party with Rescue Ink and Pit Bull Awareness Day (photos courtesy of Jennifer Hayes). You just might find a photo of yourself or your dog!

Thanks again to everyone who came out and made the day special!

Bring Romeo Home for the Holidays

Romeo

Sweet Romeo is looking for his forever home. Romeo had a sad start to life that included living on a chain, neglect and abuse. Fortunately, he was surrendered to Love-A-Bull and has learned how good life can be for a dog. He loves to run, chase balls and play fetch.

RomeoRomeo has received professional training from Buddy’s Chance. He comes when called, sits, stays and even goes to his bed and stays on cue. He is learning how to walk nicely on leash and almost has it perfected! You can watch Romeo mug for the camera and show off his manners in this video.

Romeo needs to find a home with no other dogs or cats. If you have been thinking about getting yourself a dog that wants to play ball and please you, Romeo is your guy. He would also make a fantastic running partner and loves belly rubs after a good run (well, really anytime). Won’t you bring Romeo home for the New Year, or better yet, Christmas? He’s waiting patiently!

Please email Love-A-Bull if you are interested in meeting Romeo.

Resolve to be Canine Good Citizens

Meghan and May

Did you know that Love-A-Bull offers free training for pitties whose owners have paid their annual membership dues? We offer a Basics Class and an Advanced Class. Whether your pittie needs a lot of training or just needs to brush up on some skills, our training classes are a great opportunity to bond with your dog. The Advanced Class also helps prepare your dog for the Canine Good Citizens (CGC) exam. A Love-A-Bull dream come true would be for all pitties to become Canine Good Citizens.

The Love-A-Bull training program is funded in part by an Animal Farm Foundation grant. We receive $150 for every dog that passes their CGC exam. The good news is that if your dog does not pass the CGC exam the first time, you can take it as many times as you need. In order to fulfill our 2011 grant, we need 15 dogs to pass the exam next year. Have you been thinking about your New Year’s resolutions? I think aiming to have your dog become a Canine Good Citizen is a perfectly attainable goal for 2011. In fact, I am making it a 2011 goal for our dog, Callie.

Pictured above is May and her person, Meghan Turner. May is 8 years old and just passed her CGC exam earlier this year. You are never too old to become a Canine Good Citizen!

Who else is ready to make the CGC a 2011 goal? Remember, the training classes are free! Classes fill up fast so make sure to reserve a spot soon. For more information about our classes, please read over our Free Training Program FAQ.
