Frank + Love-A-Bull

Frank + Love-A-Bull

Come out and support Love-A-Bull THIS Saturday during Sip and Savor Austin at Frank.  Sip and Savor is a city-wide food and drink celebration with one goal – to get the most people in the door of participating restaurants and bars, surpassing any food and drink event in the city.

Pittie advocate and Frank owner, Daniel Northcutt, has graciously included us and Tito’s Vodka is sponsoring the event. Love-A-Bull will make $5.00 from every Tito’s Bacon Infused Vodka Bloody Mary that is sold. For those of you that like to make your own, there will also be a Bloody Mary bar.

Don’t drink or think 8am is a little too early to drink? Then come for the Intelligentsia coffee, the breakfast menu and the awesome Love-A-Bull merchandise! There will be also live music with a special guest. Please leave dogs at home this time around.

Celebrate Valentine’s with us at Lucky Lounge!

Join us for Happy Hour at Lucky Lounge (209 W. 5th Street, next to Antone’s) from 6 – 10 pm on Friday, February 11th, to celebrate with fellow fans of the pitties!  The event will feature a signature Love-A-Bull collectible item (yet to be announced) for $10 donation at the door, plus a special pittie-themed cocktail available at the bar, a wide array of merchandise (shirts, stickers, glasses, etc.!), a photo booth with Annie Ray, and live music.

It will be a fun night (humans only this time!), to show your support of Love-A-Bull and party in honor of your favorite furry Valentine!  Bring your friends, and spread the word!  Here’s the Facebook event.

Layla Update

Layla

Do you remember sweet Layla, who was rescued from a terrible life on a chain? Well, we have good news! Layla found her forever home in December. She is now living with her people, Amy and Chris, and her two doggie pals, Molly and Brick. As you can see from the pictures below, she is now enjoying a life of luxury. She spends her days laying in a sun spot or in front of the fire with her new family. Layla definitely prefers the life of love and warmth with a family to her former life on a chain.

We still have plenty of dogs looking for a home, so head on over to Adopt-A-Bulls. You never know, you may just find the next addition to your family!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Child's Letter to Governor Perry

I think 8-year-old Beth Phillips speaks for all of us when she asks Governor Perry not to take away the pit bulls. Indeed, our dogs are our best friends and members of our families. Beth’s letter was written in response to Justin’s Law, the proposal that would make felons out of all Texas “pit bull” owners.

Remember, if you have not done so already, please write your state representative and senator to ask that they not support Justin’s Law. You can find out who represents you here. If you do not know where to start, you can find a sample letter on our home page, as well as additional steps that you can take to make sure that we are not considered felons for owning our beloved dogs.

The Pit Crew

Mocha Helps A Soldier Heal

Now that everyone has resolved to become Canine Good Citizens this year, your next step is to consider whether your dog would make a good therapy dog. Love-A-Bull recently created The Pit Crew, an all pit bull type dog therapy group. The Pit Crew will provide therapy to both children and adults who are in physical or emotional need.

Does your dog have an excellent temperament, sit patiently while petted, and adore people, especially children? Physical contact with a dog can really brighten a person’s day and help them heal or feel less lonely. Consider how your dog’s unconditional love can brighten your bad day! You can help share that love with those in need.

Please look over the FAQ and consider whether your dog would make a good addition to the Pit Crew!
