We’re always looking for reliable volunteers to support our mission and programs, and we appreciate any time you have available to give.
We have several Teams that work on particular areas of emphasis and projects for the organization. But, we’re also open to other ways of making your volunteer experience work, as well.
Please see the descriptions below, and if you are interested in supporting any of the Teams (or being a Team Lead, when the position is vacant), please fill out the volunteer form online here.
Events Team
Team Lead: Lindsey
We’re constantly planning activities and events – meaning we need help to run them! Events might include anything from an adoption day, to selling merchandise at an event, to Pit Bull Awareness Day. The Events Manager is integral to cultivating the community presence of Love-A-Bull and building lasting partnerships.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Digital Media Teams to ensure comprehensive promotional strategies.
- Plan and execute events for the organization such as fundraisers, public outreach and education opportunities, and community awareness activities that promote our mission.
- Coordinate logistics and volunteer staffing, keeping organizational leadership informed of event details.
- Work to create promotional materials with graphic designers and disseminating/posting promotional materials in hard copy and digital format.
Team members and team lead must have experience orchestrating events from start-to-finish, be detail-oriented, work with minimal supervision, possess excellent judgment, communication and organizational skills, and regularly take initiative.
Adoption Events Team
Team Lead: Megan R.
We’re always working our hardest to help find forever homes for our Adopt-A-Bulls and reach out to educate the community! The Adoption Events Team is integral to cultivating the community presence of Love-A-Bull and generating interest in supporting and participating in Love-A-Bull’s adoption program.
- Help plan, promote, and execute adoption events for the organization, in order to place Adopt-A-Bulls in temporary and permanent homes
- Serve as liaison with fosters, work in coordination with the Leadership Team, and coordinate logistics and volunteer participation.
- Promote adoption events in the community and maintain ongoing communication with Adopt-A-Bull fosters about the events.
Must have experience in orchestrating events from start-to-finish, be detail-oriented, work with minimal supervision, possess excellent judgment, communication and organizational skills, and regularly take initiative. Firm understanding of dog behavior and interaction a must.
Training Program Team
Team Lead: VACANT
Love-A-Bull provides great opportunities such as CGC testing, available training (even included with Meetup membership dues!), and more. Sometimes we just need a little help getting everyone else organized. The Training Program Team is integral to cultivating the community presence of Love-A-Bull and ensuring that the program continues to serve as a vital and valuable resource.
- Manage the organization’s training class offerings (basic and advanced classes), including scheduling and ongoing communication with trainers and host venues, promoting to Love-A-Bull members and the public.
- Accept and track participants, answer questions and respond to emails from interested participants, managing class rosters.
- Ensure that all required registration materials have been submitted prior to confirmed registration, and managing all payments/refunds.
- Work closely with the Pit Crew (therapy dog) program, and may eventually take over management of that program, as well.
Must be detail-oriented, work with minimal supervision, and possess excellent judgment, communication and organizational skills.
Foster Coordination Team
Team Lead: VACANT
Rescuing dogs is awesome, but there’s a lot more to it! From an emergency overnight rescue to a longer term foster home, sometimes our pups need a loving place to visit for awhile. The Foster Coordination Team is integral to maintaining a smooth foster/adoption program for Love-A-Bull and in providing high-quality re-homing services to the community.
- Work closely with the Leadership Team and the Adoption Events Manager to manage re-homing of dogs into temporary foster and permanent adoption placements. Help find our Adopt-A-Bulls their forever home!
- Work directly with foster recruiters to connect rescue dogs with foster homes.
- Help make arrangements when a foster dog needs to be moved to another foster home.
- Bring together trainer, foster, and any other pets for “meet and greets” (dog introductions). May also assist in coordinating the same for potential adopters.
- Coordinate home checks and transport of animals (may involve doing actual transport) Organize grooming or medical visits, sometimes including transport help.
- Provide support to foster home volunteers to ensure they have supplies and information needed (answer any questions or concerns) to provide proper foster care for the animals placed in their home. Make follow-up calls to fosters.
- Responsible for obtaining dog bio and photographs to be networked on social media avenues.
This volunteer position does require you have your own transportation, phone and basic computer skills including internet and e-mail access. Must be comfortable communicating via phone and email, and possess high level of interpersonal and decision-making skills. Experience with dog behavior and health required.
Marketing Team
Team Lead: VACANT
Just like any non-profit organization we must work to promote our mission and our pups! If you have any experience in this field it’s a plus. The Marketing Team is integral to cultivating the community presence of Love-A-Bull through print, online and in-person communications.
- In coordination with the Leadership Team, prepare press releases, review and update web and blog content, pass along social media content.
- Create/explore opportunities to spread strategic messaging for the organization (related to events, initiatives or positions).
- Represent the organization in positive light and create media relationships.
Helpful to have experience in writing and speaking to various audiences, be detail-oriented, work with minimal supervision, possess excellent judgment, communication and organizational skills, and be able to regularly take initiative.
Digital Media Team
Team Lead: VACANT
Bloggers, photographers, videographers, please apply! We’re constantly looking for new content and people to help manage it. We don’t claim to be professionals and we can always use your help with new and creative material for our website or table at an event. The Digital Media Team is integral to cultivating the community presence of Love-A-Bull in ways that reach the community through electronic outlets.
- Work closely with the Leadership Team and the Marketing Manager to streamline digital resources into an organized and easily accessible system of communication – including website, blog, social media, flyers, informational handouts and promotional materials, etc.
- Add and maintain Facebook and Twitter account content on a daily basis
- Respond to all related questions, comments and responses from social media forums
- Update web content as needed
Team members and team lead must have experience working with digital media and web (preferably in a WordPress environment), be detailed detail-oriented, work with minimal supervision, have excellent judgment, communication and organizational skills, and regularly take initiative.
Other
We also maintain a roster of volunteers for regular or occasional help for special events or projects. We seem to be constantly busy attending or planning activities and events, meaning we need help to organize and run them.
- Help staff the Love-A-Bull booth
- Sell merchandise
- Hand out materials and flyers at events
- Post event flyers on local bulletin boards
- Monitor dogs (i.e. dog-wrangling)
- Photography or video, video editing
- Solicit silent auction items and/or other donations
- Stuff envelopes/packets (yes, there are some less glorious but necessary tasks)
