Owner Surrender

Love-A-Bull does not accept dogs that are owner surrenders.  Instead, we offer information, guidance, resources, and tools to support owners who are dealing with issues perceived as obstacles to keeping their dogs.  Re-homing should be a last resort.

If you are dealing with a behavioral problem or pack dynamic, we can recommend several local trainers:

If you are dealing with a medical issue, we can refer you to local vet clinics:

If you are dealing with a financial issue, we can point you to grant-funded and other assistance programs:

If you are dealing with a housing issue, please see our Housing assistance page.

If you have other questions about how to keep your dog, please contact us.

On this topic, we’re direct and honest with you. Your dog is your responsibility and has no one else but you to look out for his or her interests. Re-homing can be extremely traumatic for your dog, and should only be considered when all other options have been exhausted.  It will take patience and persistence to find your dog the right home, but he or she deserves your best efforts.
