August 2020 Newsletter — 100th Adoption for 2020!

Dear Friends –
Since the start of Covid in March, we’ve adopted out 86 dogs and puppies!! We couldn’t have done it without our amazing fosters and the support of our community. As the world continues to push through uncertainty, we are still moving at full speed to save as many dogs as we can from the rural kill shelters we partner with. Fostering not only saves lives, it will give you purpose and passion!! We provide everything you need to foster for us and you become part of the Love-A-Bull family. Will you foster for us? EVENTS
Love-A-Bull Events Committee Meeting – August 5th
Help us plan virtual events through 2020! Per Austin ordinance, gatherings of 10+ are now banned through at least Nov. 12th so we need to continue redirecting fundraising efforts entirely online. We’d like to meet as a committee to discuss virtual workouts, contests, fundraisers, trivia, raffles and more!

If you know of any businesses or individuals who would like to help us with fundraising in the community, please email Amber at amber@love-a-bull.org. All are invited – Dial-in for our Aug. 5 committee meeting: https://meet.google.com/trr-xzxi-qhi or by phone 470-242-8571 PIN 451 288 991 #

LADY LOLA + WHY PREVENTATIVES ARE IMPORTANT!!

From the shelter to her foster, she would not let go of her bowl. She had such a need for security, it would break your heart. We saved her, preparing for what we thought would be another big litter of puppies, to find out she wasn’t pregnant at all. She was so neglected, that she was in stage 3 Heartworm Disease. She was not full of puppies, she was full of inflammation and abdominal distention and fluid, and without treatment, she would die. Stage 3 comes with coughing and difficulty breathing, weight loss, tiring easily, even fainting. This is why preventatives are SO important!!!!

She’s one of 13 dogs we’ve taken in since the start of Covid that has been heartworm positive. Dogs receive an initial injection, followed by a 30-day period of rest, and then two more injections that are given 24 hours apart. Many dogs will also be treated with an antibiotic called doxycycline. Did you know, treatment costs about $1500?

Lola is now on her way to a healthy life and going through heartworm treatment in her foster home. Lola loves attention and belly rubs and is very affectionate. She is a silly girl and will be a great companion who will make you laugh often. She gives lots of kisses and is a loving cuddle buddy. Lola is up for adoption!!! Click HERE for more information and to fill out an application.

DOGS BOND GAME PARTNERSHIP – AUGUST 5TH LAUNCH
We are excited to share a unique opportunity that came our way! We have partnered with the dog-loving creators of an upcoming family-friendly board game called Dogs BOND. Yes, that’s right — a board game about rescue dogs! They are committed to donating a portion of their annual sales to their partner rescues like us! Dogs BOND will launch through a Kickstarter campaign on Aug. 5, which will allow people to pre-order their game sets. Join the Dogs BOND mailing list and place pre-orders when the link is available on Aug. 5! The more they grow, the more they’ll be able to contribute to rescues like ours!
